Story of the day

Vintage sportswear is the fall trade. The season just started

Depop named "Romanticized Sports" a defining trend for 2026, and buyers are chasing team jerseys, track jackets, polos, windbreakers, and branded sweatshirts. Nike, Adidas, Champion, Starter, and Polo Sport all ride the wave. With football season underway, seasonal demand is stacking on top of a platform-confirmed aesthetic trend. Starter jackets and satin team outerwear historically peak as temperatures drop: the sourcing window is now, before booth prices adjust.

Why trust a tip sheet? Because we backtested it.

We reconstructed dated timelines for 14 resale waves (digicams, Stanley, graphic tees, Pokémon, sneakers, Labubu, vintage Carhartt, and more) and measured when the signal existed versus when resellers found out.

6 mo – 5 yrshow far the chatter signal led mainstream reseller awareness, across every documented wave
14 / 14waves where the two-layer recipe (chatter leads, sold comps confirm) would have fired
~6 monthsearly warning the exit signal gave on the Stanley top: rising supply + softening comps, while hype still ran

On the record: this preview issue calls vintage sportswear as the trade of the fall, dated September 14, 2026, before comp confirmation. If Starter jackets run through Q4, that's the first receipt earned live. If not, you'll read about that too.
